A small home in Denison, Texas

A real home. With room for twelve.

When Mom can't live alone anymore, she deserves a real home with a seat at the table. The Snowberry is a boutique residential assisted living and memory care home in Denison, Texas: HHSC Type A licensed, 12 beds, a 1:5 caregiver ratio, and 24/7 coverage with eMAR documentation.

Clinical rigor, residential scale.

The clinical rigor of a larger operator and the warmth of a real home. Twelve seats at one table. 12 residents by design · 1:5 caregiver ratio · 24/7 coverage with eMAR · in-house chef.

  • Known by name. A home small enough that every resident is known by name, story, and routine, not a room number.
  • Real care, around the clock. One caregiver for every five residents, present and attentive, day and night, with full eMAR documentation.
  • Real food, every day. Home-cooked meals from scratch at one shared table. Medication management and memory-aware support.

Built around twelve lives, not a crowd.

A 1:5 ratio means the day is shaped around who's actually at the table: from-scratch meals made together, music and memory sing-alongs, gardening in raised beds, one-on-one life-story work, gentle movement like chair yoga and walks, and regular therapy-pet and family visits.

Why Lou built a home for twelve.

The Snowberry began with a simple conviction of its founder, Lou: that care is most powerful when it's genuinely personal, where the people looking after your mother actually know your mother. So The Snowberry was made deliberately small. Twelve residents, a 1:5 ratio, one shared kitchen. Small enough that nothing about a person gets lost.

What families ask first.

This is one of the hardest decisions a family ever makes. Here are honest answers to the questions we hear most, including the ones that are difficult to ask out loud.

How do I know when it is time for assisted living or memory care?

There is rarely a single moment. It is usually a pattern: missed medications, a fall, weight loss, growing isolation, or the strain of caregiving wearing a family thin. If you are lying awake wondering, that question is itself worth a conversation. Call us at 903.337.1003 and we will talk it through honestly, with no pressure, even if the answer is not yet.

I feel guilty about moving my parent. Is that normal?

Yes, and nearly every family we meet carries some of it. Choosing more support is not giving up on your parent. It is making sure the hours you spend together can be spent as their son or daughter again, rather than as their nurse. Good care does not replace your love. It makes room for it.

What is the difference between assisted living and memory care at The Snowberry?

Assisted living provides help with the everyday tasks of life, such as bathing, dressing, mobility, and medication. Memory care adds calm, structured, memory-aware support for residents living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. Because The Snowberry is a single small home, both are delivered by the same familiar caregivers around one shared table.

What happens if my parent's needs change over time?

They almost always do, and our small size is built for it. Because assisted living and memory care happen under one roof with a 1:5 caregiver ratio, most residents can stay as their needs grow, in the same room, with the same caregivers. If a need ever exceeds what we can safely provide, we will tell you early and help you plan the next step.

Can our family visit and stay involved in care?

Always. There are no rigid visiting hours, because this is a home and you are family. Join for a meal, take your parent to an appointment, or simply sit together in the garden. We keep you informed about health, mood, and daily life, and we welcome what you know about your parent's history into their care.

What is included in the monthly rate?

One all-inclusive monthly rate with no a la carte billing. It covers daily personal care, 24/7 caregiver coverage with eMAR medication management, home-cooked meals from our in-house chef, housekeeping and laundry, and the full daily-life and activities program. For the rate itself, call us. That is a conversation we would rather have with you directly.

What about end-of-life and hospice care?

When the time comes, no one should have to leave the people who know them. The Snowberry partners with local hospice providers so that comfort-focused care can be given here, in your parent's own room, among familiar faces. We walk alongside families through this season with gentleness and respect.
